Reasons for Skepticism – the consumption of diet pills
Ok, the question you have to pose to yourself before you pick the so called miracle remedy is that if it was a miracle remedy, anyone would take it, and then you would not see the advertisements of it on TV or media. It would be all popular and completely accepted. So stop wasting your money, this is not a miracle remedy, the only miracle being you will regret your money spend. The biggest shocker is however this, if we look into the United States Congress, when in 1994 passed the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act did not bother to put in the standards of safety. The law is clear and permits proliferation of the supplements that are derived from natural products and they are not in any way supposed to give a proof of their safety and their effectiveness to the food and drug agency. This is what leads to the variety of products derived from various plants touted to be beneficial and might be beneficial in other areas, but rarely weight loss, even if weight loss does occur, it will be so insignificant that it will not even be noticed.
You must have heard of the ephedra fiasco, 10 people died and 13 permanently disabled among the 87 seriously ill of this drug in less than two years, natural is not always good and e must remember nature can also contain poisons, just like chemicals natural also has to be chosen with care.
After this there were products that had the label ephedra free, but unfortunately this information is not displayed that the chemicals they use are ephedra like and may raise the risk of blood pressure , palpitations and disturbed heart rhythms which further leads to strokes, cardiac arrests etc. The Mayo Clinic has issued a warning “people with existing heart disease, high blood pressure or other cardiovascular problems should avoid bitter orange.”
The industry is not regulated at all and there is no way of knowing what is safe and what is not, leave alone the effectiveness, even the safety is a huge question mark.
