Zero-Carb Diets
It is a common myth that carbohydrates hinder the weight-loss process. Also, there cannot be any diet that has no carbohydrate content in it. A ‘No Carb’ Diet plan is usually implied as a diet with very low carbohydrates intake. Even the famous Atkins Diet prescribes a low carb phase to start with. It simply means that intake of food that is high in carbohydrates should be limited.
Diet plans focusing upon a high intake or drastic reduction of a particular of other (such as proteins, fats, and carbohydrates in this case) too can cause major health risks to ones body and the weight loss is only short-term.
A low carb diet usually results in dieters consuming food stuff that is high in proteins, fats and calories, which again defeats the very purpose of a weight-loss regime. It also results in dieters limiting their fruit and vegetable intake as they are conceived to be high in carbohydrate content. The over-all result is again an extremely unbalanced diet and sole reliance on these “magical” diet plans that claim to prove drastic results in a relatively short period of time. Indeed the results are evident to any one following the diet religiously, but it is not to be overseen that these are only short-term as the major side-effects include increased cholesterol levels, osteoporosis, kidney stones and not to forget the binging after a prolonged deprivation leading to more weight gain than one had lost!
The secret to a successful, healthy and long-term weight loss still remains in the art of mixing regular work out regimes with a balanced diet, self-discipline, patience and a positive approach all in all.
