Carbohydrates and Weight Loss

Any mention of the word “diet” and “carbohydrates” in a single sentence ought to be about weight loss and how best it is for you to stay away from carbohydrates if you really want to shed pounds. Carbohydrates of all the dietary nutrients available are known to turn into fat in the quickest way. This fat deposit is what’s otherwise known as retention. There are many foods which have a high percentage of carbohydrates. Foods like bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, etc. are some carbs we consume on a regular basis in some form or the other.

That being said, completely cutting out carbohydrates from your diet will not help you much either. You will want to lower the intake of carbohydrates, but you will also want to ensure that you are able to satisfy your basic nutritional needs. Make sure that your diet contains all the essential nutrients for good health. At least 100 grams of carbohydrates per day are needed to prevent fatigue and dangerous fluid imbalances. Instead of eating 3 big meals a day, spread your meals, and have five or six small meals a day.  This can also help you control your hunger.

Recent studies have indicated that you can balance your meat consumption and cut the carbohydrates out of your diet. In other words if you are having steak for lunch, cut out the rice and the bread. If you are having kababs for dinner, cut the bread out. In this manner, you can have a balanced diet that includes meats and carbs without over indulging in either.  All carbohydrates should be considered as side orders. This will help you control your weight and in many cases help lose weight. Check out this site for more information on low carb diets and how to integrate them into your lifestyle.
